The following tutorials will mainly focus on open-source software for numerous reasons. The software we are going to be using is free, faster, smaller and, in terms of creating tracks for Re-Volt, easier to use if you’re just starting.

We will need some things to get you ready for track making. The most crucial thing might be the Blender plugin. You will need to be patient if you don’t already have a copy.

1. Register at ORP 2. Send a PM to Jigebren including your email adress. Further explanation in this topic. 3. OR: Use an alternative addon 4. If all else fails, leave a comment with your email address below.

You will then receive an email with the plugin attached. I cannot provide it here at this point since it is only for testing purposes.

Contact me. Depending on the plugin’s version, you will have to get a specific version of Blender. For the current version, you will have do download Blender 2.73. (Get blender-2.73-windows32.exe if you're unsure.)

We will use GIMP for creating textures for the track. If you tried to use GIMP before and didn’t like it: Don’t worry. You will see that it suits our needs perfectly. Everything you could want to do with it will be explained in a later step.

Download GIMP

An alternative if you feel like it. You can download Photoshop CS2 for free here.

This is an option. If you are planning to have some sounds in your track, you might want to download this audio editor to get your sound files right.

Download Audacity

The tutorials will focus on how to create tracks for Re-Volt 1.2 or RVGL. Get the game here.

That's it for now. You are pretty much covered. What you should have now:

  • Blender and a .zip of the plugin
  • GIMP
  • Audacity (if you want to edit sounds)
  • A clean installation of Re-Volt
